Gather friends and family for a visit to Historic Fort Snelling this Memorial Day Weekend. Explore the historic buildings, visit with costumed interpreters, and learn about life in early Minnesota. Watch cannon and musket firings, hearth cooking, learn about American Indian history, and join in historic games on the parade ground. Kids can try out the History Hunt scavenger hunt and earn a Fort Kids button. Over the weekend visit the stone barracks and talk with costumed staff representing different eras of U.S. military history.
On Saturday costumed re-enactors will present stories about U.S. expansion in the 1800s on Sunday they will focus on the 1900s and America's growth into a global power. On Memorial Day, guests can travel through the past with a living timeline of military life that honors America’s soldiers. This is a unique blend of family fun and hands-on learning.
