What’s the first thing you do when you’re feeling sick? Call the doctor? Go to the medicine cabinet? Eat a bowl of Grandma’s chicken soup? For the people living at Fort Snelling more than a century ago there were just as many options available. Since going to the doctor at the time was often an unpleasant and ineffective experience, many people turned to over-the-counter “patent” medicines and remedies to cure their ills. Archaeologists have uncovered evidence of these unique medicines being used at the fort and this display of original artifacts investigates the stories they have to tell. Don’t miss out; we’ve got the cure for what ails you! Learn more at the MNHS website
